Generally standard material characterisation is designed for flat sheet. Besides the standard tensile curve, Hyfo has the ability to carry out tests such as formability tests like the limiting drawing ratio (LDR), the limiting dome height (LDH) and the forming limit curve (FLC). After making a tube or tubular blank the sheet properties have been changed, and as a result of the mechanical behaviour the hollow section also changes. The free expansion test (FET) is a formability test dedicated to the hydroformability of tubes. This test characterises the expansion of the tube resulting in an accurate measure for hydroforming applications. | |
