Using a tailored tubular blank and innovative design rationale, the Crash Integrated Bumper (CIB) offers a significant reduction in parts count, assembly cost and mass compared to more traditional stamped Bumper Beams and Crash Boxes. The key enabler is a tailored Tubular Blank, using different gauge and grade combinations for the front and rear of the CIB.Using advanced CAE tools, our engineers are able tune the performance of the CIB by varying grade and gauge and the position of the join between the two, delivering progressive crush as well as overall stability. | ||||
