Professor Jon King, director of Corus Automotive, has officially opened the new Automotive Engineering Centre (AEC) at the University of Hertfordshire (26 June 2003). Meng Feng Hseih was awarded the ‘Best Vehicle Design’ accolade in the Corus sponsored ‘Streets Ahead’, the private view of the Coventry University MA Automotive Design Show 2003. The winning design was selected from a line-up of twenty-six international students by a distinguished judging panel, which included Peter Horbury, executive director of design at Ford’s Premier Automotive Group.

Corus' Fractim brings cost savings to automotive supply chain

Fractim is a new steel that has been developed by Engineering steels for use primarily in connecting rods for engines. The properties of this new product not only afford greater machinability, but also allow the connecting rod to be split, or fractured, to create a matching connecting rod and cap. This gives significant cost savings as well as improved performance in use.
