Corus ondersteunt de ontwikkeling van een nieuw type auto: 'Prautotype 001'

In het TV-programma ‘Prautotype’, dat vanaf zaterdag 3 februari bij RTL 7 te zien is, neemt presentator Erik de Zwart de kijker mee in het ontwikkelings- en bouwtraject van een nieuw type auto van eigen bodem: Prauto-type 001.

Ondernemersschap, Innovatieve toepassingen, onderscheidend design en milieuvriendelijkheid zijn de basiscriteria voor het bouwen van dit unieke model dat tijdens de komende AutoRAI (27 maart t/m 9 april) onthuld zal worden.

De auto wordt een showmodel met als doel de Nederlander te verbazen, te inspireren en te tonen waar we in Nederland toe in staat zijn. Verschillende bedrijven werken samen aan de ontwikkeling van deze unieke auto. Ieder van hen brengt zijn eigen specifieke kennis en kunde in. Corus Tubes zal samen met Corus in IJmuiden de mogelijkheden van gewichtsbesparende ontwerpen op basis van recente innovaties in staal- en buistechnologie onder de aandacht brengen. Door toepassing van Tailor Rolled Blanks (staal met variabele wanddikte) en Advanced High Strength Steels (Hoge Sterkte Stalen) kunnen auto’s nog lichter en milieuvriendelijker worden geconstrueerd.

Erik de Zwart: “In ‘Prautotype’ wordt duidelijk zichtbaar wat Nederland in huis heeft op autogebied: kennis, creativiteit, milieuvriendelijk inzicht, vernieuwingsdrift en de juiste technieken, methoden en materialen. Daarnaast wordt het bedrijfsleven geïnspireerd om, in dit geval samen met de Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen en designer Marcel Bastiaans, producten en kennis te ontwikkelen om zo in de toekomst nog gerichter voor diverse branches te kunnen produceren en ontwerpen.”

Het proces wat de inspiratoren samen met de HAN studenten en het bedrijfsleven moeten doorlopen om tot de uiteindelijke productie te komen, wordt in het programma uitgebreid in beeld gebracht. Een rollend chassis, een motor met bestaande maar ook innovatieve milieutechnische ontwikkelingen worden samen met de carrosserie samengebracht in een volledig lege hal. De hal is ingericht om de verschillende componenten op bijzondere wijze tot een daadwerkelijk rijdend Prautotype op te bouwen.

Corus support development of new type of car - 'Prautotype 001'

Starting Saturday 3 February on the Dutch channel RTL7 host Erik de Zwart will take his viewers on a tour along the design and construction of a new type of car from Dutch origin: Prauto-type 001, in a TV show called ‘Prautotype’.

Entrepeneurship, innovative applications, distinguishing design and environmental friendliness are the basic criteria for the construction of a unique model that will be revealed on the next AutoRAI in Amsterdam (27 March until 9 April).

The car will be designed with the aim to amaze, to inspire and to show the visitors what capabilities in automotive are available in the Netherlands. A number of Dutch companies will jointly develop this unique car, each of them contributing with its own specific knowledge and experience. Corus Tubes and Corus Strip Products IJmuiden will highlight the possibilities of weight saving designs based on recent innovations in steel and tube technolgy. The application of Tailor Rolled Blanks and Advanced High Strength Steels (AHHS) will enable the construction of still lighter and more environmental friendly cars.

Erik de Zwart: “ ‘Prautotype’ will clearly show some of the typical Dutch assets in automotive: knowledge, creativity, insight in environmental issues, innovative inspiration and the right techniques, tools and materials. As a result of the cooperation with the ‘Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen’ (HAN university) and designer Marcel Bastiaans, the business community will be inspired to develop products and knowledge to enable an even more focussed design and production for several other markets in the future.”

The TV show will extensively picture the process the initiators had to go through, together with the studens from the HAN University and the participating companies and institutions, in order to arrive at the final product. A rolling chassis, a motor using both existing and novel pollution reducing technologies and a body are all placed together in an empty hall. The hall will be furnished as a workshop, where from the diverse components in an exiting way an actually driving Prautotype can be build.
