Driving materials excellence

Automotive applications is one of the Corus research development & technology (CRD&T) product application departments. We aim to develop and provide the technological knowledge and skills to enable all Corus business units to achieve a prime position in the automotive market. To meet our objective, we investigate material behaviour and properties with respect to the design, engineering, manufacturing and in-service performance of cars.

Employing over 60 researchers with a technical background, we have a very good knowledge base to perform these activities. Our 4000 m² laboratory facility houses state-of-the-art experimental and computer facilities. We closely cooperate with other CRD&T departments as well as with numerous leading research institutes, universities and industrial partners all over the world.

Our services                                                                                   

Our services cover the full lifecycle of metal products including design & engineering and manufacturing. Our strength is the ability to implement our extensive materials knowledge in the design and production process of our customers whilst understanding the key drivers of the car industry. We also supply these services to the aerospace industry and manufacturers of white goods, office furniture, electrical equipment, drums and radiators.
